My guruji Arvind Parikh
Now, continuing the same musical tradition he is undergoing extensive guidance from Pt. Arvind Parikh (the senior most disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan).. 60 long years of close association with Ustad Vilayat Khan has made him an encyclopedia of knowledge on Vilayat Khani Baaj and ImdadKhani –Etawah Gharana .
Pandit Arvind Parikh is performing and charming audiences all over the world with his demonstration and lectures for over six decades.
Pandit Parikh is much more than a musician. He is a great musicologist, a dedicated teacher and an eminent cultural ambassador. His work for promoting the interests of Hindustani classical music within India and abroad will be remembered for ages to come.
Panditji’s music is based on the introspective aspect of Indian Classical Music. Parikhji has won critical acclaim and respect in India and abroad. He has been featured at almost all major festivals of music in India and in Europe, and has had very successful concert tours in several parts of West Asia, Far East and Australasia.
He was appointed as a Vice President of International Music Council (UNESCO) from 1994-97 and he is currently holding the position of Co-ordinator for the Indian sub-continent.
Parikhji was awarded the Gaurav Puraskar for the year 1997-98 by the Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Academy, the National Award by Sangeet Natak Akademi for Instrumental music (sitar) in the year 2003.
Parikhji is the President of Indian Musicological Society (IMS)
