My guruji Pt. Kashinath Mukherjee

Pandit Kashinath Mukherjee, has kept aloft the taleem of great Ustad Vilayat Khansaab successfully for decades. He has charmed veterans, amateurs and the uninitiated alike over the years with the sheer merit, dexterity and the irresistible appeal and force of his music. Initiated and inspired by his father scientist Shital Chandra Mukherjee, a learned Dhrupad exponent, Kashibabu got trained under Pandit Srinivas Nag for twelve years. His brother, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the renowned film director, was also a student of Srinivas Nag. After the demise of Pandit Srinivas Nag, he continued his taleem under Ustad Vilayat Khan. For the five years that he remained with Khansaab, he kept away completely from public appearances, as directed by him. His insatiable hunger for learning later led him to luminous maestros such as Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and Ustad Amir Khan.Panditji took proper taleem from Ustad Amir Khan Saheb till Ustad’s sad death. Panditji has participated in major concerts both at home and abroad and is the recipient of the ITC SRA awards among many others.
